How does DM booking automation work?
Someone sees your work and asks how to book. Today that question sits in your inbox until you have a free hand. With automation, a keyword in a comment or a message fires a DM with your booking page, your prices if you want them there, and the answer to the question everyone asks next.
ReplyRep does not take bookings itself. It sends people to the booking tool you already use (your calendar link, your salon software, your studio page) at the moment they want to book.
Why does a DM beat the bio link for bookings?
- People ask in the DMs anyway. "Do you have anything Saturday?" is a message, not a bio-link click. Answer it where it was asked.
- The right service, not every service. A comment on a balayage post gets the balayage booking link.
- Out of hours. Booking intent peaks in the evening, when you are closed. The DM goes out anyway.
- A second nudge. People who opened the link but did not book can get one friendly follow up.
How do you set it up?
- 1
Get one link per service
Most booking tools let you link straight to a service. That link goes in the DM, so nobody scrolls a full menu.
- 2
Set a booking keyword everywhere
BOOK as a Global Trigger answers on every post, story reply and DM, including posts you have not made yet.
- 3
Add a menu in the inbox
A Smart Menu or Welcome Opener can show up to four buttons (book, prices, location, ask a question) to anyone who opens your DMs.
- 4
Let AI handle the odd questions
Parking, deposits, whether you do kids' cuts. AI auto replies answer in your voice from your own information.
- 5
Follow up once
A day later, for people who did not book: one line, one link.

Hi {first_name}, my open dates and packages are here: {link} If your date isn't listed, reply with it and I'll check by hand.

What should the caption say?
Show the result, then make booking one word: "Comment BOOK and I'll send you the link for this service." For local businesses, add the area you serve in the caption so the people commenting are people who can actually come in.
Answer "how do I book?" while you're with a client
Set the BOOK keyword once and it works on every post and in your DMs.
Which features do bookings use?
| Feature | What it does in this play |
|---|---|
| Comment to DM | Sends the booking link on the keyword |
| Global Triggers | BOOK works on every post, story reply and DM |
| Smart Menu and Welcome Openers | Up to four buttons: book, prices, location, question |
| AI inbox replies | Answers questions no keyword covers, in your voice |
| Follow Up | One reminder for people who did not book (Lite and up) |
What does it look like for a busy salon?
Picture a lash studio that posts a before-and-after reel every few days. Before automation, "price?" and "how do I book?" sit in the inbox until the evening, and by then half of those people have booked somewhere that answered first. With BOOK set as a Global Trigger, every comment and DM with that word gets the link to the exact treatment, the price and the deposit policy within seconds.
Anyone who opens the inbox without a keyword sees four buttons: book, prices, find us, ask a question. The questions that do not fit a button go to AI replies trained on the studio's own information, and the owner picks up anything sensitive by hand. The phone stays face down during appointments.
What should you measure?
- Bookings with Instagram as the source, from your booking tool or a UTM-tagged link.
- Time to first reply on booking questions, which should now be seconds.
- No-shows for DM bookings against walk-ins and phone bookings.
- Bookings after the follow up.
Mistakes to avoid
- Sending a generic homepage instead of the service link.
- Promising availability the DM cannot check. Let the booking tool show live slots.
- Hiding the price until the third message if most people ask for it first.
- Automating replies to complaints. Hand those to a person.
