What sends Spur users looking?
Spur is a support and sales inbox for Shopify and D2C brands. It brings WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and live chat together with AI agents on every plan, and it automates comments on posts, reels, stories and ads from one dashboard, even routing a comment to WhatsApp. For a brand running customer support across channels, that is a lot of value. The brands that look elsewhere usually want less, not more.
There is no free plan. As of October 2026, Spur offers a 7-day full-access trial, then AI Acquire at $12 a month ($144 a year). Seven days is short for judging a drop or a launch.
The entry plan is tight on what matters for automation. AI Acquire includes 100 AI credits, 1 user and 3 flows. A brand running more than three product drops at once moves up to AI Start at $31 a month, with 2,000 AI credits, 2 users and 25 flows. The next tier, AI Accelerate, is $127.
Branding is an add-on. Removing Spur branding is $39 a month on top of the plan, so a clean customer experience on AI Acquire costs $51 a month, not $12.
Put together: a brand whose Instagram job is "comment SIZE under the reel, get the product link and a code" can end up paying for a multi-channel inbox to do it.
What does Instagram-only automation cost on Spur versus a DM tool?
Here is the comparison a D2C brand usually runs. On Spur, the cheapest clean setup is AI Acquire at $12 plus the $39 branding add-on, $51 a month, with 3 flows and 1 user. If you need more than three live automations, AI Start plus branding removal is $70. On ReplyRep, Boost costs $25 a month with branding already removed, 40,000 DMs and 3 Instagram accounts, and keywords on a single post are unlimited.
That is not a like-for-like comparison, and it should not be read as one. The Spur price includes WhatsApp, live chat, Facebook and AI agents. The point is narrower: if Instagram comment-to-DM is all you use, you are paying for an inbox you do not open.

What a Spur alternative should cover
- Comment-to-DM on posts, reels and ads, since paid posts are where D2C comments pile up.
- Story mentions, so customers who tag you get a thank-you or a code while the story is live.
- Email capture with an export to Klaviyo or your email platform, so Instagram buyers join your list.
- Clean messages without a separate branding fee, or a clear plan where branding comes off.
- Enough automations for every live product, not a small flow quota.
- WhatsApp only if you use it. If your support runs there, keep it in scope; if not, drop it.
Six Spur alternatives for D2C brands, ranked
1. ReplyRep
Where it fits: brands that need Instagram to turn comments into clicks, followers and emails, without a support desk attached. ReplyRep automates post and reel comments, sponsored ad comments, story replies and story mentions. Keywords on a single post are unlimited on every plan, so every product drop can have its own. The email collector exports as CSV or syncs to Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot or Google Sheets.
Cost: free with 2,000 DMs a month. Lite is $10 for 10,000 DMs with follow-gate, email collector, follow ups and Suggest More, which nudges a buyer toward the matching product. Boost is $25 for 40,000 DMs on 3 Instagram accounts, with ReplyRep branding removed and no add-on fee. MAX is $100 for 400,000 DMs on 5 Instagram accounts.
Where Spur is stronger: ReplyRep is Instagram only, with no WhatsApp, Facebook, live chat or email channel, and no routing of a comment to WhatsApp. It is not a support desk with seats for an agent team. If those are central to your store, Spur is built for them. See ReplyRep vs Spur, and for store-specific setups, Instagram DM automation for Shopify.
2. Chatfuel
Where it fits: brands that want to keep a multi-channel AI agent but prefer unlimited contacts and messages on a flat plan. Chatfuel covers Instagram post, reel and ad comments, story replies, WhatsApp and Facebook. Business is US$18 a month billed yearly with US$20 of AI credits.
Trade-offs: no free plan, only a trial of unstated length, and AI usage is metered by credits.
3. ManyChat
Where it fits: brands that want Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp in one mature flow builder, with a free plan to start. Paid plans run from $14 a month for 250 active contacts to $139 for 25,000 (per manychat.com/pricing, checked 19 October 2026).
Trade-offs: per-contact billing with overage, so a viral ad raises the bill. The free plan covers 25 contacts and carries ManyChat branding.
4. LinkDM
Where it fits: brands that want Instagram plus Facebook comment automation at a flat price. Pro is $19 a month for 25,000 DMs on 3 accounts, with ad comment replies, story mention replies and email capture. Free has 1,000 DMs.
Trade-offs: no WhatsApp, and AI replies are not listed on the pricing page.
5. InstantDM
Where it fits: brands running several stores' accounts on a tight budget. No per-contact fees, ad comment automation on Trendsetter ($24.99 a month billed yearly), email and phone capture on paid plans, and Multi plans priced per account. 7-day trial with no card.
Trade-offs: prices are billed yearly, and lower plans cap DMs per hour.
6. Zorcha
Where it fits: brands that want unlimited DMs and contacts on a low flat price, with a follow-gate on every plan and broadcasts plus link-in-bio on Ultimate ($39.99 a month billed monthly).
Trade-offs: ad comment automation is not stated on the pricing page (a separate Click-to-DM Ads product is listed), and the free plan takes an 8% digital product fee.

Switching from Spur without double messages
- 1
Keep what Spur does well
If WhatsApp support and live chat run on Spur, you can leave them there and move only Instagram comment automation.
- 2
Pick one product post
Turn off Spur's comment automation for that post, including any rule that routes the comment to WhatsApp.
- 3
Rebuild it with a code and a link
Recreate the keyword, the DM and the discount code in the new tool. In ReplyRep that is about four minutes.
- 4
Move ads and story mentions together
Ad comments and story mentions are account-level triggers. Turn Spur's off for both, then switch the new ones on in one sitting.
- 5
Check the AI is off on Instagram
If Spur's AI agent answers Instagram DMs, decide which tool owns the Instagram inbox so customers get one reply.
- 6
Test from a second account
Comment on the post and on an ad, mention the brand in a story, and confirm each gets exactly one DM.
Is Spur still right for your store?
Yes, if your customers expect answers on WhatsApp and live chat as well as Instagram, if several agents share the inbox, or if routing an Instagram comment into a WhatsApp conversation is part of how you sell. Spur is built for exactly that. If your Instagram goal is moving product during launches and paid campaigns, an Instagram-first tool with a free plan and no branding fee will usually fit better and cost less.
