What do Shopify shoppers comment on Instagram?
Under a product reel: "price?", "link pls", "does it come in green", "do you ship to Canada", "restock when". Under a paid ad: the same, plus "is this legit". Most of these are a product page away from checkout, and the product page lives in your Shopify store, not in Instagram.
The ecommerce brands page covers the broad case. This page is about the Shopify-specific details: which links to send, how to create the codes, and how to see the orders in your Shopify reports.

How do you connect it to your Shopify store?
- 1
Connect the store's Instagram account
Through Meta's official login, in about four minutes. ReplyRep never asks for your Instagram password.
- 2
Copy product URLs from Shopify and add UTMs
Add utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=dm&utm_campaign=<keyword> to each link so Shopify's reports attribute the sessions and orders.
- 3
Create the discount in Shopify admin
Make a code just for Instagram DMs, and use Shopify's shareable discount link so the code applies at checkout. A unique code makes redemptions easy to count.
- 4
Sync captured emails to Klaviyo or Mailchimp
The email collector sends restock and welcome sign-ups to your email tool, where your Shopify flows take over.
- 5
Cover your ads
Ad comment automation answers price questions under sponsored posts, which are often your most expensive comments.
Test the whole loop yourself before the post goes live: comment the keyword from a second account, open the DM, tap the link, add to cart and check that the discount applies. Then confirm the session appears in Shopify's reports under the UTM campaign you set. Ten minutes of testing saves a launch-day surprise.
Which features matter most for a Shopify store?
- Comment to DM on product reels, the core link-out.
- Global Triggers for "shipping", "returns" and "sizing", answered across every post.
- Suggest More, which recommends a matching product after the first link, like the matching napkins after the tablecloth.
- The viral post DM queue for the product reel that sells out the stock.
What results have ecommerce accounts shared?
Two ecommerce accounts using ReplyRep have shared these results. They are product brands rather than a Shopify-only sample, and your numbers will depend on your product, price and audience.
| Account | What they do | Followers | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| @ceramics.by.nadia | Handmade ceramics | 231K | $1.2M in sales from comments |
| @dropship.dispatch | Ecommerce | 310K | 34K new followers in 60 days |
Which keywords work for a Shopify catalog?
Small catalogs can use one keyword per product, named after the product: MUG, THROW, CANDLE. People remember a product name better than a generic word, and each keyword can carry its own UTM campaign. Larger catalogs do better with one keyword per post and a link to the collection page, because a reel showing six products should not send six links.
Keep the store-wide questions as Global Triggers and leave product keywords on the posts. That way "shipping" always gets the shipping policy, and SHOP always sends the product in that particular reel. The best Instagram comment keywords guide has more patterns to borrow.
What should Shopify stores keep accurate in DMs?
- Prices and stock. When you change a price in Shopify, the DM text does not update itself. Link to the product page and avoid typing prices you might change.
- Discount terms. State the expiry and any minimum order in the DM, so customers are not surprised at checkout.
- Email marketing rules. Restock and welcome emails sent to DM sign-ups need consent and an unsubscribe link; in the US, CAN-SPAM sets the baseline.
- Shipping promises. Only quote delivery times you can meet in peak season.
Send the product page, not the bio link
Add SHOP to your next product reel and track the orders in Shopify.
Which plan suits a Shopify store?
A small store can start on Free (2,000 DMs). Lite adds email capture, follow ups and Suggest More with 10,000 DMs on 1 account. Stores with more than one brand account, or regular promotions, fit Boost: 3 accounts, 40,000 DMs and no ReplyRep branding. Stores running heavy ad campaigns or seasonal sales across up to 5 accounts fit MAX, at 400,000 DMs.
The Shopify DM automation guide walks through the setup in more detail, and the discount codes use case covers code campaigns.
