What do followers comment under affiliate content?
Try-on hauls, kitchen gadget demos and "Amazon finds" reels attract the same five comments in different spellings: "link?", "where is the top from", "what size are you wearing", "is there a code" and "does it come in black". A good reel gets hundreds of them. Every one you do not answer is a commission that goes to whoever answered first, or to nobody.
The bio link helps, but it adds taps and a search through a page of products. Affiliate income is a numbers game with thin margins per click, so the extra taps matter more here than almost anywhere else.

Here's the linen shirt from today's reel: [affiliate link] I'm wearing a medium, and I'm 5'6". It runs a little big, so size down if you're between sizes. (Affiliate link: I earn a small commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you.)

Everything from this week's haul, in order: 1. Blazer: [link] 2. Wide-leg trousers: [link] 3. Loafers: [link] These are affiliate links, so I may earn a commission. Prices were correct when I filmed, but they change often.

Every Sunday I send the five best finds of the week, with sale prices flagged. What email should I send them to?

How do you set it up for affiliate content?
- 1
Connect your professional account
Meta's login, about four minutes, no password shared.
- 2
Write the keyword into every caption and on-screen
"Comment LINK and I'll send it" as text on the reel works better than the caption alone, because many people never open the caption.
- 3
Paste the affiliate link and disclosure into the DM
Write the disclosure into the message itself so it travels with the link, not just in the caption.
- 4
Turn on Suggest More
After the link, Suggest More nudges toward the next thing they will likely want: the matching trousers, the gadget's refill pack.
- 5
Track clicks by keyword
Use a different tracking ID or sub-ID per keyword where your affiliate network supports it, so you know which reels earn.
Which features matter most for affiliate income?
- Comment to DM, the core of it: link out, every time, in seconds.
- Comment auto reply, which answers publicly under each comment so the thread signals that the link is real.
- The viral post DM queue, because one affiliate reel can bring thousands of LINK comments overnight.
- Follow ups for restocks and sale prices, sent to people who already asked.
What makes an affiliate DM get clicked?
- Answer the question they actually asked. Size, color and fit notes next to the link do more than a bare URL, because they remove the reason to hesitate.
- One link per product. A roundup is fine, but number the items in the order they appear in the reel so people find the one they wanted.
- Say when prices change. Affiliate prices move with sales, and a buyer who finds a different price than you quoted blames you, not the retailer.
- Keep the disclosure short and human. "I earn a small commission" is clear and does not read like a legal notice.
Do affiliate links in DMs need a disclosure?
Yes. In the US, the FTC says a material connection, such as earning a commission, should be disclosed clearly and close to the recommendation. A DM with a bare affiliate link is a recommendation, so the disclosure belongs in the DM, in plain words like "I earn a commission". Hashtags buried at the end of a caption do not cover a link sent privately. Other countries have similar advertising rules.
Affiliate programs also set their own rules. Some, Amazon Associates among them, specify how you identify yourself as an affiliate and where links can be shared. Read your program's operating agreement before you send its links by DM. None of this is legal advice.
Send the link before they scroll on
Put LINK on your next product reel. The first commenter gets the link and the disclosure in seconds.
