Who outgrows Chatfuel, and who under-uses it?
Chatfuel is built for businesses that want an AI agent answering across Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, with TikTok and website chat in the menu too. Its plans are flat with unlimited active contacts and messages, which is a strong position. As of October 2026, Business costs US$18 a month billed yearly (US$216 a year), and Agency S US$90 a month billed yearly for 3 companies.
Most people searching for an alternative are not outgrowing it. They are under-using it. A creator whose whole setup is "comment PLAN, get the meal plan" does not need WhatsApp, a website widget or an AI agent trained on a knowledge base. They need a keyword, a message and a link, and they want to see it work before paying. Chatfuel has no free plan, only a free trial with no card, and the pricing page does not say how many days it lasts.
Two other reasons come up. First, AI is metered: Business includes US$20 of AI credits a month under a fair-use allowance, so AI-heavy months can mean topping up. Second, the published prices are yearly ones, and monthly-billed prices are not shown in the page text.
If you use Chatfuel across several channels, that is a real reason to stay, and the last section covers it. This list is mostly for people who want something leaner on Instagram, plus two multi-channel options for those who do not.
What most Chatfuel Instagram flows look like once simplified
Open your Chatfuel Instagram flows and count the steps that actually reach the customer. For most creators and small brands it is three: a public reply under the comment, one DM with the link, and sometimes a nudge later. Branches, tags and AI handoffs often sit there unused. If that matches what you see, an Instagram-only tool can do the same job with a fraction of the setup.

If your flows genuinely branch, qualify leads or hand off to a person on WhatsApp, keep that in mind as you read the list: the multi-channel tools near the bottom will suit you better than the simple ones at the top.
Your checklist for a Chatfuel replacement
- Channels: list the ones you actually used last month. If it is only Instagram, an Instagram-only tool will be simpler and usually cheaper.
- A free plan, not just a trial: so you can run a real post for weeks, not days.
- The Instagram triggers you rely on: Chatfuel covers post and reel comments, ad comments and story replies. Your replacement should too.
- How AI is billed: included, metered by credits, or not offered at all.
- Billing period: whether the price is monthly or yearly up front.
- Data: a way to export emails or sync them to your email tool.
The six best Chatfuel alternatives
1. ReplyRep
The simpler Instagram tool. ReplyRep does one platform and does the common jobs without a builder: pick a post, set a keyword, write the DM, done in about four minutes. It handles comment-to-DM on posts and reels, sponsored ad comments, story replies and story mentions, which covers the Instagram side of what Chatfuel does. When a keyword cannot predict the question, AI replies answer in your voice.
Pricing: a real free plan with 2,000 DMs a month and no card. Paid plans are billed per DM sent: Lite $10 for 10,000, Boost $25 for 40,000, MAX $100 for 400,000. Follow-gate, email collector and follow ups start on Lite.
What you give up: WhatsApp, Facebook, TikTok and website chat; ReplyRep is Instagram only. Chatfuel's unlimited contacts and messages have no DM cap, while ReplyRep's plans do. Accounts are limited to 1 on Free and Lite, 3 on Boost and 5 on MAX. Full detail on ReplyRep vs Chatfuel.
2. LinkDM
Simple, with a free plan and Facebook. LinkDM covers Instagram and Facebook on flat plans capped by DMs: Free has 1,000 DMs on one account, Pro is $19 a month for 25,000 DMs on 3 accounts, Platinum+ $99 for 300,000 on 10. Story replies and mentions on every plan; ad comment replies and email capture on Pro.
What you give up: AI replies are not listed on the pricing page, and free messages carry LinkDM branding.
3. ManyChat
If you need multi-channel but a different builder. ManyChat covers Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp in one visual builder and has a free plan for 25 active contacts. Paid plans run from $14 a month for 250 contacts to $139 for 25,000 (per manychat.com/pricing, checked 19 October 2026).
What you give up: Chatfuel's unlimited contacts. ManyChat bills per active contact with overage, which rises when a reel goes viral. See ManyChat vs Chatfuel.
4. Inrō
If you want to keep an AI sales agent but only on Instagram. Inrō is built exclusively for Instagram, with an AI agent that collects email, phone or custom fields, a CRM and campaigns. The free plan covers 100 activated contacts and 50 AI credits; Pro starts at EUR 12.99 a month with a 14-day trial.
What you give up: flat pricing. Inrō bills per activated contact and shows EUR prices only.
5. CreatorFlow
For a solo creator on a small budget. Instagram only, unlimited automations, follow-gate and email on Pro at $15 a month for 5,000 DMs. Free has 500 DMs on one account; paid plans have a 14-day trial.
What you give up: volume, since the DM caps are low, and AI replies are not stated on the pricing page.
6. Spur
For D2C brands that want WhatsApp and Instagram support together. Spur covers Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook and live chat with AI agents on every plan and no contact limit. AI Acquire is $12 a month with 100 AI credits; AI Start is $31 with 2,000. There is a 7-day full-access trial.
What you give up: a free plan, and branding removal is a $39 a month add-on. See ReplyRep vs Spur.
Try the Instagram-only route for free
ReplyRep's free plan has 2,000 DMs a month and no card. Set up one keyword post and see if it covers what you used Chatfuel for.

How to switch from Chatfuel without duplicate messages
- 1
Separate Instagram from everything else
If Chatfuel also runs your WhatsApp or Facebook, decide whether those stay on Chatfuel. You can move Instagram alone and keep the rest.
- 2
Disconnect Instagram in Chatfuel for one flow at a time
Turn off the Chatfuel comment automation for one post before enabling the same keyword in the new tool.
- 3
Rebuild the flow as a single DM where you can
Many Chatfuel flows boil down to one message and a link. In ReplyRep that is about four minutes; follow the comment-to-DM setup guide.
- 4
Switch off the AI agent on Instagram
If Chatfuel's AI agent answers Instagram DMs, turn it off before turning on AI replies elsewhere, so one question gets one answer.
- 5
Test, then finish the move
Comment from a second account, check the DM, then move story replies and ad comments last.
Reasons to keep Chatfuel
Keep Chatfuel if your customers message you on WhatsApp and Facebook as well as Instagram, and you want one AI agent answering all of them. Keep it if unlimited contacts on a flat plan matters more than a free tier, or if you manage several companies on Agency S. If Instagram is your only channel and most of your automations are keyword replies, the simpler tools above will be easier to run. For a ready-made first automation, see the lead magnet delivery use case.
