What is comment-to-DM on Instagram?

How does comment-to-DM work?

You pick a post and a keyword, such as GUIDE. When someone comments it, Instagram notifies the tool, and the tool sends that person one DM as a private reply. Comments without the keyword are left alone. Meta allows private replies on comments on posts, reels, stories, Live and ad posts, and the reply must go out within 7 days of the comment (Live comments only while the broadcast is on).

What does a comment-to-DM look like?

The DM lands in their inbox if they follow you, or in message requests if they don't. Meta adds a link to the post they commented on, so the context is clear.

Why does comment-to-DM matter?

Every keyword comment is someone asking for the thing, so the DM is wanted rather than cold. The link arrives in a private thread where they can tap it straight away. Meta allows one private reply per comment, and more messages only once the person responds, within 24 hours of that response. That is why good first DMs end with a reason to reply, like the CARRY prompt above.

How does ReplyRep handle comment-to-DM?

In ReplyRep you set a keyword on any post or reel, including posts you haven't published yet. Keywords on a single post are unlimited on every plan, and the Free plan includes 2,000 DMs a month. A global trigger answers a keyword on every post at once. On Lite and up, a follow gate can check the follow before the link goes out, and the Excess DM Queue holds anything over Meta's rate limit in order instead of dropping it. See Instagram comment-to-DM for the full feature, or follow the comment-to-DM setup guide.
